Kaštel Novi is a historical gem on the coast between Split and Trogir. The town originated in 1512 when Pavao Antun Cippico built a fortified castle to protect his estate from Ottoman attacks. Today, this fortress, along with the characterful square in front of it, forms the cultural heart of the town. The narrow streets and stone houses exude typical Dalmatian charm. A special attraction is 'Mastrinka', an olive tree over 1500 years old, which is protected as a natural monument and bears witness to the region's millennia-old agricultural tradition. Kaštel Novi is also famous for its viticulture, especially the Crljenak Kaštelanski variety, which is genetically identical to Zinfandel. Visitors can discover the history and taste of this noble wine in local cellars. The waterfront promenade connects Kaštel Novi with the other six Kaštels and invites long strolls by the sea. Numerous beaches and hidden coves offer relaxation, while proximity to Split Airport and UNESCO cities makes the location well-suited for exploration. Local cuisine provides authentic dishes based on regional products.
