Kaštel Kambelovac is one of the seven settlements forming the city of Kaštela, located directly on the Adriatic coast. The town originated in the 16th century when the Venetian noble family Cambi built a fortified tower on a small island to defend against Ottoman raids. Today, the cylindrical Cambi Tower is the town's landmark and one of the best-preserved examples of defensive architecture in the region. The town is a paradise for hikers and climbers, as numerous marked trails lead from here up to the Kozjak mountain. At the top, the 'Pod Koludrom' mountain hut features a fantastic view over the entire Kaštela Bay, Split, and the offshore islands like Brač and Šolta. In the town itself, visitors find cozy konobas serving local wines and freshly caught fish. The Riva (promenade) invites for long walks by the water. Culturally, Kaštel Kambelovac is famous for its Klapa evenings, preserving the traditional Dalmatian a cappella singing. The combination of historical heritage, immediate proximity to the sea, and the impressive mountains in the background makes the town a versatile destination for vacationers. Thanks to its proximity to Split Airport and the coastal road, Kaštel Kambelovac is very easily accessible yet maintains a relaxed, village-like atmosphere.
