In early August, Kastela dedicates the town to the tragic love story of Miljenko and Dobrila, set in 17th-century Kastel Luksic. An open-air performance and guided walks bring the legend to life during the Kastela Cultural Summer.
From July to August the Kastela settlements, including Kastel Luksic, host over 70 events: concerts, klapa singing, folklore, theatre and exhibitions.
Kaštel Lukšić is located in the heart of the Kaštela Bay between Split and Trogir. The settlement developed around the Vitturi Castle, built in the late 15th century by the Venetian noble family of the same name. Today, the renovated castle houses the Museum of the City of Kaštela and serves as the town's cultural center. The architecture blends Renaissance elements with defensive structures that provided protection against Ottoman raids. Kaštel Lukšić is also known as the setting for the Croatian version of Romeo and Juliet: the legend of Miljenko and Dobrila tells of two lovers from rival noble families whose story remains alive in the streets of the town today. Visitors can see their tomb in the Church of St. John the Baptist. The area also has beautiful pebble beaches and a promenade connecting all seven Kaštela settlements. Kaštel Lukšić is handy for travelers seeking an authentic Dalmatian atmosphere, away from the hustle and bustle of major cities but still close enough to the region's main attractions. Its proximity to Split Airport makes travel particularly straightforward.

Even in the rain, the elevated vista of the moody bay and the churning sea is spectacular.
