Jezerane is located in the heart of the historic Lika region, in a fertile valley guarded by the Mala Kapela massif. Although its name is often associated with the eponymous tunnel on the A1 highway, the village features much more than just a passing point. The landscape is pastoral, with vast meadows where flocks of sheep graze and coniferous forests that purify the air, making Jezerane a good destination for rejuvenation. The climate in Jezerane is specific to the Lika area, with cool summers and long, snow-rich winters. Agriculture is the main occupation of the locals, with the famous Lika potato and sheep cheese being products of local pride. Visitors have the opportunity to taste 'škripavac' cheese, a traditional Croatian product that 'squeaks' between the teeth, offering an authentic culinary experience. The surroundings are first-rate for mountain hiking and cycling on forest roads. The flora and fauna of Mala Kapela are remarkable, with the area being a habitat for bears, wolves, and numerous bird species. Jezerane was historically a vital link between the coast and the interior of the country. Today, it represents a peaceful retreat for those wanting to discover the spirit of the Croatian mountains and the legendary hospitality of the people of Lika.
