- The famous 'Dance of Death' frescoes are in the Church of St. Mary on the Rocks, 1km outside the village; you must get the key in town.
- Look for Mrs. Sonja Šestan at house number 38 in the village; she is the keyholder and will accompany you to the chapel.

Beram is one of the oldest inhabited places in Istria, picturesquely situated on a hill. The village is primarily known for the Church of St. Mary on the Rock (Sveta Marija na Škriljinah), located about one kilometer outside the center. It houses the famous 'Dance of Death' fresco cycle by Vincent of Kastav from 1474, one of the most important late Gothic artworks in Istria. The village itself preserves its medieval layout with narrow streets and stone houses. In the parish church of St. Martin, there are valuable late Gothic reliefs and Glagolitic inscriptions. Beram is not only a destination for art historians but also for hikers who want to explore the hilly wooded landscape of the surrounding area. Culinary-wise, Beram provides typical Istrian specialties in local taverns. Particularly noteworthy are dishes with truffles and homemade pasta like fuži or pljukanci.
