Lindar is located in the heart of Istria, above the Pazin basin, and is one of the oldest places on the peninsula. Due to its strategic location on a 400-meter-high hill, Lindar previously offered protection and a wide view over the entire region. The place has preserved its medieval atmosphere with stone houses and narrow streets. The most significant cultural heritage of Lindar is located in the small Church of St. Catherine. Unique frescoes from 1409 are preserved there, especially the representation of the 'Living Cross', which is among the most important medieval artworks in Istria. The Church of St. Mohor and Fortunat from the 17th century dominates the townscape with its bell tower. Visitors come to Lindar to enjoy the peace and explore the hiking trails around Pazin. The nearby Pazin Abyss (Pazinska jama) is a well-known natural attraction. In the area, there are numerous agrotourism businesses offering authentic Istrian cuisine such as truffle dishes and pršut. Lindar is a must for culture lovers and hikers seeking the original Istria.
