Trviž is located in the central part of Istria, near Pazin, and sits majestically on a hilltop with a wide view over the Istrian hilly landscape. The village looks back on a long history dating back to the Middle Ages, when it played an important defensive role in the border region between the Republic of Venice and the Habsburg territory. The center of the village is dominated by the parish church of St. Peter and Paul, built in the 19th century on the site of an older church. Trviž is also known for its cultural events, particularly for preserving traditional Istrian music and dances. Annual folk festivals attract visitors from all over the region.
