Likouala Parrot Habitats

The Likouala region in northeastern Republic of the Congo hosts some of the world most critical habitats for the African Grey Parrot (Psittacus erithacus). The extensive swamp forests and seasonally flooded terrains provide these highly intelligent birds with well-suited nesting sites and an abundant supply of food, primarily oil palm fruits and seeds.
