The fields stretch along main roads and are clearly visible from public roads. Direct walking through is usually not possible as the plantations are actively farmed.

Best views of the endless white cotton fields are from viewpoints along the Taklamakan Desert road. From the hills at the edge of the Tarim Basin you get a wide panorama.

In villages, cotton bales, textiles, and hand‑woven carpets are sold. Xinjiang cottonseed oil and local melons are also typical agricultural products.

Planting is in April/May, harvest from September to November, when the fields are most lively. During harvest season many workers are active on the plantations.
