Chreav Village Organic Farm is situated approximately 15 kilometers south of Siem Reap and stands as a pioneering initiative for sustainable agriculture in Cambodia. The project involves local farming cooperatives dedicated to producing crops without the use of chemical pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. Over the years, Chreav has evolved into a prominent hub for agro-tourism, allowing visitors to engage directly with the daily routines of Cambodian rural life and organic cultivation methods. The farms produce a diverse array of vegetables, including long beans, cucumbers, and leafy greens, which are distributed to local markets and eco-conscious hotels in the region. Beyond crop production, the initiative focuses on community empowerment by providing training in ecological techniques and establishing fair trade practices. Its proximity to the Tonle Sap Lake plays a vital role in its irrigation systems and overall soil productivity. Today, Chreav serves as a significant model for transitioning from conventional farming to eco-friendly practices, promoting both biodiversity and economic resilience for the local population.
