- The Sveti Vrach town park is massive and gorgeous; renting a bicycle is a great way to explore it fully.
- Bring a bottle; you can drink the warm, healing mineral water for free directly from the public fountains at the park's entrance.

🍽 Food
Try the robust local broad-leaved vine red wine at restaurants along Makedoniya street or visit nearby wineries.
Thanks to the border proximity, fresh vegetable salads with feta cheese are of exceptionally high quality here.
Grab a locally made ice cream (sladoled) while enjoying an evening stroll down the lively Makedoniya main street.
🛍 Shopping · 🧘 Quiet spots
Sandanski's Mediterranean climate is excellent for growing figs; the locally made jam is a great, affordable souvenir.
Makedoniya street is lined with numerous shoe and clothing shops that often offer better prices than the capital.
Tucked away from the busy streets, this archaeological complex has fascinating ancient mosaics in a quiet setting.
The further you walk into the park alongside the Sandanska Bistritsa river, the wilder and more peaceful the nature becomes.
Water temperature…
Sandanski is located in southwestern Bulgaria in the Struma Valley and is officially the sunniest and warmest city in the country. It is internationally famous as a center for treating respiratory conditions, thanks to its unique microclimate and exceptionally clean, allergen-free air. The area has over 80 mineral springs, feeding various luxury spa hotels and public baths. Legend names Sandanski as the birthplace of Spartacus, the Thracian gladiator who led the famous Roman slave revolt, and a grand monument honors him at the city entrance. The 'Sveti Vrach' park is one of Bulgaria's largest city parks, featuring over 160 plant species, an artificial lake, and scenic paths. Below the modern streets lies an ancient Roman city; visitors can explore the Episcopal Basilica, a magnificently restored early Christian complex with original mosaics.
