Botevgrad is located in the western part of Bulgaria, positioned in the Botevgrad Valley at the foot of the Stara Planina mountain range. The city, named after the poet and revolutionary Hristo Botev, has a rich history dating back to antiquity. Main attractions include the Clock Tower, one of Bulgaria's 100 National Tourist Sites, and the History Museum. Today, Botevgrad is also a major center for the electronics and automotive industries in Bulgaria. The city is well-connected to the capital, Sofia, which is only about 60 km away, via the Hemus motorway, making it very easy to reach. The surrounding mountain landscape has numerous opportunities for hiking and recreation. The best time to visit is in spring or autumn to enjoy the mild climate and the beauty of nature. In winter, it is a good starting point for winter sports in the nearby mountains.
