Panichishte is located on the northwestern slopes of the Rila Mountains at an altitude of 1350 to 1450 meters. It is most famous as the primary gateway to the Seven Rila Lakes, one of Bulgaria's most visited natural wonders, which can be easily reached via a modern chairlift from the Pizditsa area. As part of the Rila National Park, the resort is surrounded by pristine landscapes and diverse wildlife. During the winter months, Panichishte features several ski runs of varying difficulty, including a run dedicated to children and a fun sledding track. It is a popular spot for winter sports training and school camps. Hikers are drawn to the Skakavitsa Waterfall, the highest in the Rila range, which becomes a striking ice-climbing destination in deep winter. The resort features a wide range of accommodation, from cozy mountain huts to comfortable hotels and villas. The atmosphere is quiet and nature-oriented, making it first-rate for families and those looking to escape the hustle of city life.
