Bobrek is a small, secluded village in the Bobov Dol Municipality, located in western Bulgaria within the Kyustendil Province. The settlement is situated in the foothills of the Rila Mountains and is surrounded by a hilly, agricultural landscape. Historically, the name Bobrek in the region is also closely linked to the Rila Mountains, as one of the famous Seven Rila Lakes, Lake Babreka (The Kidney), is often referred to with a phonetically similar name. However, the village itself is a distinct, small entity with a very low population, representing the traditional way of life in Bulgaria's rural areas. The local economy is primarily based on small-scale farming and livestock breeding. The peace and clean mountain air make the village a retreat away from major tourist flows. Bobrek provides a glimpse into the original life at the foot of the highest mountain range in the Balkans.
