Boyana Waterfall (Bulgaria)

Weather…

Boyana Waterfall is the highest and most spectacular waterfall in the Vitosha Mountain range, located at an elevation of about 1,260 meters above the Boyana district of Sofia. The waters of the Boyana River plunge down a vertical granite cliff from a height of approximately 25 meters. The waterfall is most impressive during the late spring when the melting snow from the mountain peaks creates a powerful and roaring flow. Visitors can choose from two main hiking trails: a steep path following the riverbed and a gentler route passing by Boyana Lake. In cold winters, the waterfall frequently freezes solid, attracting ice climbers from across the region. Surrounded by dense beech and coniferous forests, it has a refreshing escape and panoramic views of the Bulgarian capital. As part of Vitosha Nature Park, the oldest nature park in the Balkans, it is a key destination for outdoor enthusiasts seeking natural beauty close to the city.
