National Bank of Angola Building (Angola)

Weather…

The National Bank of Angola (Banco Nacional de Angola) building in Luanda is one of the most magnificent examples of Portuguese colonial architecture in Africa. Located prominently on the Avenida 4 de Fevereiro, the city's famous waterfront Marginal, it was constructed between 1951 and 1956. Designed by architect Vasco Regaleira, the building features a grand Neoclassical style, distinguished by its imposing pink facade and elegant white columns. The structure is crowned by a massive central dome, while its interior is richly decorated with marble, rare woods, and murals depicting Angola's historical and economic life. As the nation's central bank, the institution plays a critical role in Angola's monetary policy. The building is not only an administrative hub but also a major cultural landmark that reflects Luanda's economic significance during the late colonial period. It remains one of the best-preserved and most admired historical buildings in the Angolan capital.
