Getting there
The peak is typically accessed from the western valleys of Andorra or the Spanish side. Most routes start from remote mountain roads requiring a long approach hike.
Best season
The most favorable conditions are found between late June and September, when the high border ridge is mostly free of deep snow. Winter attempts require serious alpine mountaineering skills.
Terrain & paths
Expect steep, unmarked alpine slopes and loose scree near the 2,789-meter summit. The terrain is highly exposed and lacks established, clearly maintained hiking paths.
What to bring
Sturdy trekking boots with good ankle support and reliable navigation tools are essential. You must bring plenty of water, windproof layers, and emergency communication devices.
Parking
Vehicles are typically left at the highest accessible trailhead in the neighboring valleys. Parking options are extremely limited and consist mostly of informal pull-outs along dirt roads.
Safety
Sudden weather changes are a major risk at this altitude along the border. Hikers must carefully monitor conditions, avoid the ridge during thunderstorms, and be cautious of falling rocks.
Time needed
A round trip to the summit generally requires a full day of demanding hiking, often taking 7 to 9 hours. It is highly recommended to start early in the morning to maximize daylight.
