Santa Coloma d'Andorra is a historic village within the Andorra la Vella parish, globally renowned for its exceptional pre-Romanesque church. The Church of Santa Coloma originally dates back to the 9th century and stands as one of the oldest buildings in the principality. Its most striking feature is the 12th-century circular Lombard bell tower, which is unique in Andorra. Geographically, the village is located on the right bank of the Valira River at the foot of forested mountains. In addition to the church, the village hosts 'Espai Columba', a modern museum that displays the original 12th-century Romanesque murals, which returned to Andorra after a long journey through Germany. Despite its proximity to the capital, the village has preserved a traditional core characterized by ancient stone houses. Historically, Santa Coloma was an independent settlement before urban expansion caused it to merge almost seamlessly with Andorra la Vella. The area also provides access to hiking trails like the Camí Ral. Culturally, the site is a symbol of the deep-rooted Romanesque artistic tradition of the Pyrenees.
