General Council of Andorra

The new General Council building is the modern seat of the parliament of Andorra, located in the capital city of Andorra la Vella. Inaugurated in 2011, this contemporary structure was designed by architect Juan Ramón de la Riva to meet the administrative needs of a growing nation. The building is situated on a plateau overlooking the Valira river, adjacent to the historic Casa de la Vall. Its design harmoniously blends local stone, which reflects traditional Andorran masonry, with large glass panels that symbolize transparency in governance. Covering an area of approximately 16,000 square meters, the facility includes a modern debating chamber, committee rooms, and administrative offices. The architectural layout was carefully planned to integrate with the surrounding urban landscape while maintaining its status as a civic landmark. It represents the political evolution of the Principality, transitioning from the historic 16th-century house to a state-of-the-art legislative facility.
