Grunas Waterfall (Albania)

Weather…

The Grunas Waterfall is located in the heart of Theth National Park within the Albanian Alps and is considered one of the region's most significant natural monuments. The water plunges from a height of approximately 30 meters over a steep carbonate cliff into a deep, turquoise basin. The waterfall's source is fed by snowmelt and underground karst streams, resulting in a constantly low water temperature. Geologically, the fall was formed through the erosion of limestone, which explains the characteristic hollows in the rock. The surrounding area is dominated by alpine vegetation and dense beech forests typical of the Prokletije mountains. Since 2002, the waterfall has been under state protection to preserve its sensitive ecosystem from anthropogenic impacts.
