Battle of Albulena Site (Albania)

Weather…

The Albulena battlefield, also known as Uji i Bardhë (White Water), is the site of one of Skanderbeg's most brilliant tactical victories over the Ottoman Empire. On September 2, 1457, Skanderbeg managed to surprise a vast Ottoman army of up to 80,000 men through a strategy of feigned retreat and misinformation. While the Ottoman commanders believed the Albanian resistance had collapsed, Skanderbeg regrouped his forces and launched a devastating surprise attack during the enemy's midday rest. The assault was so fierce and unexpected that the Ottoman camp fell into total panic and was completely overrun. Among the many captured was Hamza Kastrioti, Skanderbeg's nephew, who had defected to the Ottomans. This victory secured a period of relative peace for Albania and significantly weakened Ottoman influence in the region for several years. The Battle of Albulena is regarded as a masterpiece of psychological warfare and remains a highlight of the military career of Albania's national hero.
