Getting there
Reached by driving along the coastal road from Hadibo, the main town on Socotra. Access to the lagoon itself usually involves a short walk from the nearby camp.
Best season
The period from October to April is generally the best time to visit, avoiding the fierce monsoon winds and rough seas that occur during the summer months.
Terrain & paths
The area is defined by blindingly white sandbanks, shallow turquoise waters, and surrounding rocky hills, making for easy beach walking but tricky wading at times.
What to bring
Sun protection is absolutely vital due to the intense reflection from the white sand. Water shoes are highly recommended to protect feet from sharp shells or rays.
