Khmilnyk is a city in the Vinnytsia Oblast, renowned throughout Ukraine and beyond as a premier balneological resort. Its history dates back to the 14th century, and a remnant of its past is the imposing stone tower built by Konstanty Ostrogski in the 16th century on an island in the Southern Bug River. While history is important, the city's true fame lies in its natural resources. The accidental discovery of radon mineral water in the 1930s transformed the town's destiny, turning it into a hub for health and rehabilitation. Today, Khmilnyk is home to numerous sanatoriums and spa hotels that offer a wide range of treatments for conditions of the musculoskeletal, nervous, and cardiovascular systems. The healing properties of the radon water, combined with therapeutic peat mud, attract thousands of visitors annually seeking relief and relaxation.
