Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant (Ukraine)

Weather…

The Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) is located near the town of Netishyn and is a cornerstone of the Ukrainian energy supply. The facility was originally conceived in the 1980s, with the first VVER-1000 type reactor unit going online in 1987. A second unit was completed only in 2004 after a long construction hiatus, significantly increasing the country's nuclear capacity. The power plant plays a strategic role in electricity exchange with the European Union, particularly through the reactivated high-voltage line to Poland. Currently, two additional reactor units (Units 3 and 4) are under construction or in advanced planning stages to further strengthen Ukraine's energy independence. The facility meets the highest international safety standards and is regularly inspected by the IAEA. As one of the region's largest employers, the plant ensures not only power for millions of households but also economic prosperity in the western part of the country.
