Dolmabahçe Palace (Turkey)

Weather…

Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul served as the administrative center of the Ottoman Empire from 1856, replacing Topkapı Palace as the primary imperial residence. Commissioned by Sultan Abdülmecid I, the palace's architecture is an eclectic blend of Baroque, Rococo, and Neoclassical styles integrated with traditional Ottoman motifs. Located on the European shore of the Bosphorus, the palace covers 45,000 square meters and contains 285 rooms and 44 halls. A highlight of the interior is the grand Ceremonial Hall, which features the world's largest Bohemian crystal chandelier, a gift from Queen Victoria. Dolmabahçe also holds significance as the place where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of modern Turkey, spent his final days and passed away in 1938. Today, the palace functions as a museum, showcasing the opulence of the late Ottoman era and early republican history.
