Al-Sinn River

The Al-Sinn River is the shortest river in Syria, measuring only about 6 kilometers in length, yet it holds immense strategic and ecological importance. It originates from a powerful karst spring in the Lattakia Governorate, near the city of Baniyas, and flows directly into the Mediterranean Sea. Despite its brief course, the Al-Sinn maintains a remarkably constant and high discharge, averaging approximately 14 cubic meters per second. This reliability makes it the primary source of drinking water for the coastal cities of Lattakia and Tartus. The water is celebrated for its purity and high quality, as it emerges directly from the depths of the coastal mountain range. Agricultural lands near the spring benefit from the nutrient-rich water. Historically, the river was utilized during Phoenician and Roman times, with ancient remains still evident in the surrounding area.
