Strunjan

Strunjan is a sanctuary of peace on the lively Slovenian coast, celebrated for its pristine natural beauty. The most striking feature of the area is the 80-meter-high flysch cliffs within the Strunjan Nature Park, which drop dramatically into the Moon Bay (Mesečev zaliv). This wild beach is widely considered one of the most beautiful in Slovenia and is only accessible by foot. The landscape is also defined by the northernmost active salt pans in the Mediterranean, where high-quality sea salt has been harvested traditionally for over 700 years. Food lovers should visit in November for the Persimmon (Kaki) Festival, celebrating the local harvest. The best time for a visit is from May to October for swimming, while spring and autumn are great for hiking along the coastal paths. Positioned between Izola and Piran, Strunjan provides a serene and authentic escape from the more crowded tourist destinations.
