Qurayn Abu al-Bawl, also known as Tuwayyir al-Hamir, is the highest point in Qatar at an elevation of 103 meters. This limestone hill is situated in an otherwise flat desert landscape in the southern part of the peninsula, near the border with Saudi Arabia. Geologically, it is part of the Eocene formation, rich in sedimentary rocks. The surrounding area is barren and characterized by rocky terrain that supports only sparse desert vegetation. Despite its modest height, the summit has a wide panoramic view over the surrounding desert and the nearby oil fields of the Dukhan anticline. The site is of geological interest, providing insights into the region's geological past, particularly the uplift and erosion processes that have shaped the current landscape. It is a destination for hikers and geology enthusiasts wishing to experience the rugged beauty of the Qatari desert.
