Murtosa is a welcoming municipality in the Aveiro District, intimately linked to the vast lagoon system of the Ria de Aveiro. Geographically situated on a flat peninsula between the Atlantic Ocean and the lagoon's channels, the town exudes a unique maritime atmosphere. Historically, Murtosa is the heartland of the 'Moliceiros', traditional, brightly painted boats once used to harvest seaweed (moliço).
