Lisbon Oceanarium (Portugal)

Weather…

The Lisbon Oceanarium is one of the largest and most renowned public aquariums in the world, located in the Parque das Nações, the former site of Expo '98. Designed by US architect Peter Chermayeff, the building resembles an aircraft carrier anchored in water. The heart of the facility is a central aquarium containing five million liters of saltwater, housing open-ocean fauna including sharks, rays, and the rare sunfish. Grouped around this central tank are four separate ecosystems representing the Atlantic, Pacific, Indian, and Antarctic oceans. The Oceanarium is home to over 8,000 creatures from around 500 different species and is heavily involved in research and marine conservation. A special attraction are the sea otters and penguins, which can be observed in their respective habitats. Since its opening, the aquarium has attracted millions of visitors and is regularly cited as one of the best cultural institutions in Portugal.
