Ranikot Fort (Pakistan)

Weather…

Ranikot Fort, frequently referred to as the Great Wall of Sindh, is recognized as the world's largest fort based on its massive circumference. Located in the Jamshoro District within the Kirthar National Park, its ramparts extend approximately 32 kilometers across the Kirthar Range. While some theories suggest ancient origins, the current visible structure mostly dates back to reconstruction work performed by the Talpur dynasty in 1812. The fort is constructed from dressed sandstone and lime mortar, connecting several mountain peaks with its undulating walls and 45 strategic bastions. The complex includes two smaller internal fortresses, known as Miri Kot and Shergarh, which provided further security and living quarters. There are four main gates providing access to the interior, with the Sann Gate being the most well-preserved entry point. Despite its immense size and strategic design, the exact historical purpose of such a large fortification in this remote region remains a subject of academic debate.
