Dibba Al Baya is a wilayat in the Musandam exclave at the tip of the Arabian Peninsula, with about 25,000 inhabitants on the Omani side. The city is administratively divided: Dibba Al-Hisn belongs to the Emirate of Sharjah, Dibba Al-Fujairah to the Emirate of Fujairah, and Dibba Al Baya to the Sultanate of Oman. In 633, the historic Battle of Dibba took place here, in which the troops of Caliph Abu Bakr under Ikrima ibn Abi Jahl defeated the apostate tribes of Oman during the Ridda Wars, thus securing Islamic rule on the peninsula. Today, Dibba Al Baya is known for its spectacular fjord landscape, where boat trips on traditional dhows lead to uninhabited bays and coral reefs. The steep limestone cliffs of Musandam rise up to 2,000 meters from the sea.
