- Do not hike alone to find musk oxen. Join a guided safari to maintain a safe distance, as they will charge if they feel threatened.
- The Rauma Railway ride to Åndalsnes is spectacular. Make sure to book tickets well in advance during the summer.
- Visit the Viewpoint Snøhetta architectural pavilion in Hjerkinn (a short drive/bus away). It's a 1.5 km walk from the parking lot.

For rail enthusiasts, Dombås is the starting point of the Rauma Railway, frequently cited as one of Europe's most beautiful train journeys, winding through the dramatic Romsdalen valley. The town also hosts the Heimevernsmuseet (Home Guard Museum), which chronicles the fierce battles fought in the area during World War II. The town center is well-equipped with services, making it a popular base for outdoor adventurers and road trippers.
