Renesse is located on the island of Schouwen-Duiveland and is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the Netherlands. The town became famous primarily for its 17-kilometer-long, clean sandy beaches, which offer plenty of space for sunbathers and water sports enthusiasts. While Renesse used to be considered a party hotspot for youths, it has now evolved into a family-friendly destination emphasizing nature and relaxation. A cultural highlight is the 13th-century Moermond Castle, surrounded by a moat and an extensive estate. Seals can often be spotted sunbathing on the sandbanks in the dune areas around Renesse. The village center is characterized by numerous restaurants, boutiques, and cozy terraces inviting visitors to stay. The surrounding area is handy for extensive cycling tours through the Kop van Schouwen nature reserve. The town is easily accessible via the Brouwersdam, which connects Schouwen-Duiveland with Goeree-Overflakkee.
