Oss is a dynamic industrial city in the province of North Brabant, widely recognized as the birthplace of the modern Dutch pharmaceutical industry. The company Organon was founded here in 1923, helping to establish the city as a major center for biotechnological and medical research. In addition to pharmaceuticals, Oss has a strong heritage in the food industry, particularly meat processing, which dates back to the late 19th century. Archaeologically, the area is significant due to the discovery of the "Prince's Tomb of Oss," a famous Iron Age burial site containing rich artifacts. The city has transitioned from an agricultural village into a modern innovation hub while maintaining a strong cultural identity through institutions like the Jan Cunen Museum. Located near the Meuse River, Oss also provides access to various natural parks and water-based recreational activities, making it an attractive place for both work and leisure.
