Manakamana Temple (Nepal)

Weather…

Manakamana Temple, located in the Gorkha district of Nepal, is a highly revered shrine dedicated to the goddess Bhagwati, an incarnation of Parvati. The name Manakamana is derived from two words: 'mana', meaning 'heart', and 'kamana', meaning 'wish'. Devotees make pilgrimages to this temple with the firm belief that the goddess will fulfill the wishes of those who pray to her with a pure heart. The temple is situated on a ridge at an altitude of 1,302 meters and has been accessible since 1998 via a 2.8-kilometer cable car from Kurintar on the Prithvi Highway, which replaced the strenuous multi-hour hike. The temple complex is a two-story pagoda built in the traditional Nepalese style. Animal sacrifice is also a common practice here. The site not only provides spiritual fulfillment but also provides magnificent views of the Manaslu and Annapurna mountain ranges on clear days.
