Davis Falls (Nepal)

Weather…

Davis Falls, known locally as Patale Chhango, which means 'Underworld Waterfall', is a unique natural attraction in Pokhara. The waterfall is fed by the outflow of Phewa Lake and plunges into a deep, underground cave. The water disappears underground for about 150 meters before reappearing. The name 'Davis Falls' comes from a tragic incident in 1961 when a Swiss tourist named Davi was swept away by the current near the waterfall and drowned. During the monsoon season (June to September), the waterfall is at its most impressive, when the water masses cascade into the depths with a deafening roar. A fence protects visitors from getting too close to the dangerous edge. Opposite the entrance to the falls is the Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave, which was formed by the same watercourse.
