The Laykyun Sekkya is a monumental standing Buddha statue located near Monywa in the Sagaing Region of Myanmar. Upon its completion in 2008, it became the tallest statue in the world, a title it held for several years. The structure stands 116 meters tall and is positioned on a 13.5-meter throne, resulting in a total height of approximately 129.5 meters. The interior of the statue is divided into 31 floors, corresponding to the 31 planes of existence in Buddhist cosmology, and is decorated with mural paintings. Adjacent to the standing figure is a massive reclining Buddha, which was completed in 1991. The site is part of the Maha Bodhi Tahtaung complex, which features thousands of smaller statues.
