Tsetsii Wind Farm (Mongolia)

Weather…

The Tsetsii Wind Farm is located in the Gobi Desert within the Tsogttsetsii district of South Gobi Province. With an installed capacity of 50 megawatts, it was officially opened in October 2017 as Mongolia's second major wind energy facility. The project was developed by Clean Energy Asia, a joint venture between the Mongolian Newcom Group and Japan's SoftBank Energy. It consists of 25 Vestas V110 turbines, specifically chosen for their efficiency in the region's unique wind conditions. Its location is strategically important as it serves the energy-intensive mining hub of the southern Gobi, including the Tavan Tolgoi area. The wind farm plays a vital role in meeting Mongolia's renewable energy targets, aiming for a 30% share by 2030. Annually, Tsetsii offsets approximately 190,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, providing a sustainable alternative to coal-based power.
