The Cubolta River is a significant left tributary of the Răut River, stretching for 92 kilometers in northern Moldova. It originates near the village of Plop and meanders through the hilly landscape of the Bălți Steppe before flowing into the Răut. The river valley is asymmetrical, with a steeper right bank and a gentler left bank, which is characteristic of the region. Along its course, the river feeds several reservoirs that are important for local agriculture and fishing. Although the river can nearly dry up in some sections during the summer due to low rainfall and high evaporation, it is an essential part of the region's hydrological network, profoundly shaping the landscape and rural life.
