Getting there
The hill is easily accessible from the main settlements on Weno; the ascent often begins near the town center. Although the distance is short, one should ask locally about the exact start of the trail leading to the historical observation points.
Best season
Since the trail is relatively short, it can be walked year-round, but ideally in the drier months from December to April. During heavy rain, the steeper sections and the paths leading to the relics can become quite slippery and uncomfortable.
Terrain & paths
It is a short but partially crisp climb over stony and grassy paths. One moves through sparse tropical forest and frequently passes by old fortification remnants, which require some caution when choosing exactly where to step on the trail.
What to bring
Normal, athletic shoes with a good tread are usually sufficient for this moderate hill. Wear light clothing, sun protection, and be sure to bring a camera to capture the historical sites as well as the expansive views of the surrounding lagoon.
Parking
Since the hill is very close to the center, it is best to leave your car in town at your accommodation or a public square. The distance to the starting point can often be easily covered on foot, which saves the trouble of searching for parking.
Safety
The path is safe, but when exploring the relics from World War II, one should not touch or alter anything and should watch out for rusty metal parts. Stay on the visible paths to avoid any unpleasant encounters with hidden insects.
