Wied il-Mielaħ Window (Malta)

Weather…

The Wied il-Mielaħ Window is a monumental natural limestone arch on the north coast of Gozo, near the village of Għarb. Unlike the collapsed Azure Window, this natural arch is more massive and has a stable view of the forces of marine erosion. The window is located at the end of the Wied il-Mielaħ valley, which is known for its rich flora and traditional agricultural methods. Geologically, the arch consists of hard coralline limestone that withstands the violent waves of the northern sea. In recent years, access has been improved by a staircase carved into the rock, allowing visitors to descend almost to the level of the arch. The site is particularly popular with climbers and photographers, as late afternoon light conditions emphasize the texture of the rock. Fossils can also be found in the surrounding sedimentary layers, pointing to the region's marine past. It now serves as one of the island's most important geological landmarks.
