Gunung Mulu National Park in Sarawak is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of South East Asia's most striking natural wonders. It is home to the Sarawak Chamber, one of the world's largest underground chambers, and the Deer Cave, famous for its daily 'bat exodus'. Every evening, millions of bats emerge from the cave in spectacular spiraling patterns. Many caves, like the Clearwater Cave, are explored via traditional longboats along the Melinau River. For the adventurous, the trek to the Pinnacles, razor-sharp limestone spikes rising high above the rainforest canopy, is a highlight. The park is remote and mostly accessible by light aircraft from Miri or Kuching, which helps preserve its pristine environment. The climate is very humid with frequent rainfall, supporting an incredibly diverse ecosystem of flora and fauna. Accommodation ranges from park headquarters' dormitories to luxury jungle resorts.
