Napoléonsgaart (Luxembourg)

Weather…

Napoléonsgaart (Napoleon's Garden) is a prominent elevation in western Luxembourg near the village of Wahl in the municipality of Rambrouch. With an altitude of 548 meters above sea level, it is one of the highest points in the Gutland, the southern part of Luxembourg, just before the border with the Ösling. According to tradition, the site received its name from Napoleon Bonaparte, who supposedly stopped here during his campaigns, although this is not historically documented. During the First and Second World Wars, the hill's strategic location served as an observation post for the military. Today, a distinctive water tower and a telecommunications mast, visible from afar, are located on the plateau. From the viewpoint, a 360-degree panorama opens up in clear weather, encompassing the Ardennes to the north and the industrial landscapes of the Minett region to the south. The geological structure consists of Mesozoic layers of Luxembourg sandstone, which form a wide plateau here.
