Goldkaul is situated on a steep slope above the Black Ernz valley and is accessible via the Mullerthal Trail. The vegetation surrounding the rocks consists primarily of mosses, ferns, and lichens, which thrive in the shaded and humid microclimate of the valley.

The easiest access is from the hiking parking lot on the road from Berdorf to Consdorf. From there, a marked path leads to the rock face in a few minutes. Sturdy shoes and sure footing are needed for the rocky trail.
