Zūras Manor (Latvia)

Weather…

Zūras Manor, located in the Ventspils district, is an outstanding example of the development of rural aristocratic residences in Latvia. The main manor house was constructed at the end of the 18th century in the Neoclassical style and was later expanded during the 19th century to accommodate the increasing representative needs of its owners. The estate was closely associated with the noble von Lambsdorff family, who managed the lands for several generations. Beyond the residential manor, the ensemble includes various outbuildings, such as a distillery and stables, highlighting the estate's economic self-sufficiency. A standout feature is the extensive landscape park, which borders the Venta River and is regarded as one of the finest of its kind in the Courland region. After 1920, the building served as an agricultural school, a role that significantly helped preserve its structural integrity. Today, Zūras is a protected cultural monument.
