Zante is located in the southern part of the Tukums Municipality, located within the pretty heights of Eastern Kurzeme. The village's history is centered around the Zante Manor, a 19th-century estate that currently serves as the local primary school and remains a key architectural landmark. During the final months of World War II, Zante became a significant strategic site within the Courland Pocket, where intense combat occurred between German and Soviet divisions. This military legacy is meticulously preserved in the Zante Museum, which features an extensive outdoor and indoor collection of wartime artifacts and vehicles. Geographically, the area is noted for the Red Cliffs (Sarkanās klintis), striking sandstone formations found along the banks of the Amula River. The local economy is primarily based on agriculture and forestry, but the village has also grown as a destination for historical and nature tourism. Zante represents a unique intersection of aristocratic history, significant 20th-century military events, and the natural beauty of the Latvian countryside.
