Vāne Manor (Latvia)

Weather…

Vāne Manor, located in the Tukums municipality, was constructed in the 1870s for the Baron von Fircks family in a distinct Neo-Gothic architectural style. The building features characteristic pointed arches and decorative masonry that reflect the romanticized historical aesthetic prevalent in 19th-century Courland. Originally the center of a large agricultural estate, the manor underwent significant changes following the 1920 Latvian agrarian reform when it was nationalized. Since 1950, the building has housed a local school, a transition that ensured the continuous maintenance of the structure through the Soviet era and beyond. The manor complex is surrounded by a landscape park containing several ancient tree specimens from the original plantation. Although the interior layout was adapted for educational purposes, the exterior remains an excellent example of Baltic German manor architecture.
