Cesvaine is a historical town in eastern Latvia, world-renowned for its magnificent Cesvaine Palace. The palace was built between 1890 and 1897 for the von Wulf family in an eclectic style and is regarded as one of the most outstanding examples of late 19th-century Latvian palace architecture. However, the town's history dates back much further, as a castle of the Archbishopric of Riga stood on this site as early as the 14th century. The town is situated in a hilly landscape characterized by deep valleys and small rivers. Historically, Cesvaine was a significant center for crafts and education in the Vidzeme region. In 2002, the palace suffered severe damage from a major fire, but it has been largely restored through extensive renovation efforts in the following years. Today, Cesvaine is a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors with its architectural beauty and the surrounding landscape park. The town also maintains a strong tradition in dairy farming.
