Ma'in Hot Springs
Ma'in Hot Springs, also known as Hammamat Ma'in, is a striking thermal oasis set in a deep valley near the Dead Sea. These mineral-rich springs are heated by underground volcanic fissures, resulting in hot waterfalls that cascade down the cliffs. Since Roman times, people have sought out these waters for their therapeutic benefits, particularly for treating skin conditions and joint pain. The site features a unique spa experience where you can stand under natural hot falls for a powerful hydro-massage or soak in tranquil thermal pools. The dramatic contrast between the arid desert cliffs and the lush green vegetation sustained by the springs creates a serene and mystical environment. Dining at the onsite resorts focuses on high-quality international and local cuisine, often using fresh ingredients from the surrounding fertile plains. Enjoying a traditional Jordanian meal while overlooking the steaming waterfalls is a highlight for many visitors. Located about an hour from Amman and 30 minutes from Madaba, the drive into the valley is spectacular with winding roads and scenic viewpoints. The best time to visit is during the cooler months, from October to April, when the hot water provides a first-rate balance to the crisp air. Summer can be intensely hot within the canyon, making midday visits less comfortable.
